Terrible Luck in Poker

For a game where most participants rarely consider luck, there are tons of superstitions in poker. When you mention that someone was fortunate in that poker tournament they won, be mindful of how you say it. For instance, if you say that you were unfortunate, your fortune may not change.

Ok, that might sound a bit ubsurd, but poker is a game loaded with folklores. Did you know that if you’re gambling a game with two different decks and you’re asked to choose the deck, you should always select the deck of cards that’s the furthest away from you? Or, what If you get a run of bad cards, you have to sit on a hankerchief to destroy your horrible luck? It’s certainly thought of as good fortune to blow through a deck of cards when they are being randomized.

Some other interesting poker folklores are:

  • You might be able to change the run of cards by going around your chair 3 times.
  • The luckiest seat at the poker table faces the entrance.
  • The unluckiest chair has its rear to a fireplace.
  • When changing chairs, you really should constantly do so following the clock.
  • The worst poker card is the four of clubs.
  • It is very unfortunate to sit with your legs crossed at the poker table.
  • Friday is a bad day for betting on cards.
  • The 13th is also a terrible day, no matter what day of the week it is.
