Pai Gow Poker is a current game with ancient ancestry. Built on the old Chinese domino game and the current American version of poker, Pai Gow poker joins the far east with the wild west in a wonderful game for beginner level gamblers.
Pai Gow is a poker game that pits the player versus the croupier, unlike most other poker games that gamblers wager with other gamblers. By betting against the dealer, new players don’t have to worry about any other, more advanced gamblers winning their mulla.
Another Pai Gow advantage is the generally leisurely game play, beginners are able to take their time and strategize without needing to make hasty decisions.
It’s also easier to bet on for an extended time with just a small amount of cash since, to not win, both of your hands must be under both of the dealer’s hands.
Pai Gow uses 53 cards; the regular 52-card standard deck and one joker. The gambler is given seven cards face up and the casino gets 7 cards faces hidden.
A five card hand and a two card hand must be made from the seven cards dealt, the 5 card hand must be better than the two card hand. To win, a player is required to have both of his hand totals to be higher than the casino’s.
