Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
