Web Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the last game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world may be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen playing online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
