Pai Gow uses 53 cards; the customary 52-card standard deck and one joker. The gambler is dealt 7 cards face up and the casino is given seven cards face down.
One five card hand and one 2 card hand need to be put together from the 7 cards dealt, the 5 card hand must be better than the 2 card hand. To win, a player needs both of his hand values to be larger than the houses.
